American rock band Kings of Leon formed in Tennessee in 1999.

The group has southern rock roots but their recent work has a more alternative feel.

Unusually Kings of Leon are all related. With brothers Anthony Caleb Followill on vocals and rhythm guitar, Michael Jared Followill on bass guitar and backing vocals and Ivan Nathan Followill on drums and backing vocals. Their cousin Cameron Matthew Followill plays lead guitar and performs some backing vocals. The entire band uses their middle names.

Kings of Leon had their initial success in the UK before breaking into America. They continue to tour and record albums.
